I’ve probably had more developer jobs than most designers, and more designer jobs than most developers. I have undertaken roles in both creative and technical positions, some by accident but mostly because I enjoy the challenges that come with both disciplines. Nowadays I get to do both! Being a designer-slash-developer means I’m close to the action from conception to completion and am able to contribute on every level, rather than being a small cog in a big machine.
Some might argue this could only make for a jack of all trades and master of none, but I have an insatiable desire to constantly learn new things in different disciplines. Whether it’s the newest After Effects plug-in or understanding regular expressions or just learning what makes good typography, I love learning. I also Feel that to be successful in this industry you need to know both design and development. Knowing the limits and strengths of both sides makes for a more efficient work flow and better end product.
Why do I do what I do? Because I believe in making things greater than they are. Because I like to distinguish between what is good and what is great—and embrace whatever falls on the greater than side of the equation. What does that mean? It means that good isn’t good enough. And it means that I will never stop looking for new ways to connect my clients with their audience—through the perfect blend of project management, client relationships and breakthrough strategy.
I have over ten years experience in this field of which I have worked as a Web Designer/Developer, Print Designer, Audio Designer and Digital Media Designer. I’m fanatical about the small details and I have learned over the years from working in various companies that every pixel matters. .
